The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service operates as part of the NSW Emergency Services. The helicopter operations are sourced through the NSW Ambulance Service Medical Retrieval Unit, Hunter New England Health, AusSAR and NSW Police Service.

The Service's Bell 412  and the BK117 twin engine helicopters are based at Broadmeadow in Newcastle are on call 24 hours a day covering the Hunter, Central Coast,  Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales.

For New England - North West regions another BK117 twin engine helicopter operates from Tamworth Airport. Each retrieval is logged and can be seen in the 'Mission logs' section of this website.
